Safety Notes
- It is your responsibility to monitor current weather conditions before participating.
- We are open rain or shine but may delay river access if lightning is present.
- Some guests find entering and exiting the river the most challenging so please be mindful during this time.
Life Jackets
- US Coast Guard approved life jackets should be used at all times.
- One standard adult sized Life jackets will be provided with each rental
- For smaller children please ensure you bring your own properly fitted life jacket
- Illinois state law requires all children under the age of 13 wear a US Coast Guard approved life jacket at all times.
- Age 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
This activity is not recommended for people with
- Injuries
- Limited mobility
- Bad or surgically repaired joints
- Those recovering from surgery or sickness
- Those with open wounds, stitches, or staples
- Those with severe anxiety
- Those who are unable to swim or feel uncomfortable around water.
- Anyone taking medications that cause drowsiness or impair motor functions
- Those weighing over 300 pounds unless physically fit
- If you are unable to touch your toes from a standing position or do a sit up you may not be able to comfortably or safely participate in this activity
- River tubing or kayaking while pregnant is not permitted.
The Sugar River is not a lazy river ride. It is a natural waterway.
- You can expect varying conditions.
- The river bed is slick, uneven, rocky, sandy, and muddy.
- Water depth varies from ankle deep to overhead deep.
- Fluctuating water levels can create shallow water or strong currents.
- You may incur obstacles such as exposed rocks, tree limbs, branches, debris, and wildlife.
- Walking may be required based on water level and the weight of the participant.
- Participation in the activity is at your own discretion.
- You’ll be entering a natural river controlled by mother nature
- There are no lifeguards on duty
- Other personal watercraft (river tubes, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, etc) will be operated by the general public on the same stretch of the river.
- The risk of serious injury exists, and you assume all responsibility for your participation
- You must be able to enter, navigate, and exit the river under your own agency.
Protect Yourself and Personal Belongings
- Protect Your Feet. Water shoes or sneakers should be worn at all times.
- Protect Your Phone. Phone Dry Bags are available for purchase through our online store.
- Protect Your Keys. Vehicle keys should be stored in a safe place. Do not take your keys down the river.
A signed release of liability waiver is required by all participants
