Sugar River Adventures offers an experience for people of all ages like no other. Our activities are nestled within the outlying forest preservation of Winnebago County Illinois. Tubing entrance point is located at the Colored Sands Forest Preserve-Yale Bridge Road launch. From the parking lot with your tube in hand a short hike through a designated forest path will get you to the canoe launch entrance of the Sugar River within minutes.
Once the voyage is underway you will float past Colored Sands Nature Preserve to the exit point at Sugar River Forest Preserve. The journey will float though winding river canals and under Yale Bridge Road bridge. The river will then guide you amongst beautiful sand bars providing an opportunity to take a break if you wish and enjoy the sand bar beaches. Next you will navigate through "hair pin" and "camel hump" turns prior to drifting to your final destination and your exit point to the canoe launch at the Sugar River Forest Preserve. Float distance for tube rentals is 1.5 miles. Estimated float time of 1.5 hours with normal river conditions.
You have reached the Sugar River Forest Preserve A staff member will assist you with storing your tubes. If the shuttle bus is not already there waiting for you it should arrive momentarily. Feel free hang out and wait on available picnic benches or use the rest room. Enjoy the shuttle ride back to the parking lot at Colored Sands Forest Preserve-Sand Bluff. We appreciate the opportunity to provide you the experience of floating down the Sugar River!
